1. And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,

- And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; Matt. 13:3

- And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it. Mark 4:33

- And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. Luke 8:10

2. The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,

- And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. Isa. 25:6

- Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. Matt. 25:1

- And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. Rev. 19:9

3. And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.

- As soon as ye be come into the city, ye shall straightway find him, before he go up to the high place to eat: for the people will not eat until he come, because he doth bless the sacrifice; and afterwards they eat that be bidden. Now therefore get you up; for about this time ye shall find him. 1 Sam. 9:13

- And while they were yet talking with him, came the king's chamberlains, and hasted to bring Haman unto the banquet that Esther had prepared. Est. 6:14

- And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. Rev. 19:9

4. Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.

- Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our LORD: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength. Neh. 8:10

- She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table. Prov. 9:2

- Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise. Matt. 21:36

5. But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:

- And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law. Gen. 19:14

- And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. Luke 14:18

- Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 1 John 2:15

6. And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.

- Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matt. 5:10

- And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. Matt. 21:35

- And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles. Acts 8:1

7. But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

- I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. Isa. 10:6

- They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. Matt. 21:41

- But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me. Luke 19:27

8. Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.

- But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: Luke 20:35

- Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. Acts 13:46

- Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. Rev. 3:4

9. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.

- Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets: Prov. 1:20

- Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. Matt. 21:43

- So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. Luke 14:21

10. So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.

- Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: Matt. 13:47

- After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; Rev. 7:9

- And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. Rev. 19:9

11. And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:

- And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment. Zech. 3:4

- He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. Rev. 3:5

- And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. Rev. 19:8

12. And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

- But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? Matt. 20:13

- And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus and took him. Matt. 26:50

- Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. Rev. 16:15

13. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

- And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Matt. 13:42

- And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matt. 25:30

- There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. Luke 13:28

14. For many are called, but few are chosen.

- Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Matt. 7:13

- Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: 2 Pet. 1:10

- These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. Rev. 17:14

15. Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.

- The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Ps. 2:2

- And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words. Mark 12:13

- And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor. Luke 20:20

16. And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.

- And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him. Mark 3:6

- And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod. Mark 8:15

- But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts. 1 Thess. 2:4

17. Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?

- He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? Matt. 17:25

- And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. Luke 2:1

- Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. Rom. 13:7

18. But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?

- The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. Matt. 16:1

- The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? Matt. 19:3

- This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. John 8:6

19. Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.

- But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. Matt. 18:28

- And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. Matt. 20:2

- And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. Rev. 6:6

20. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?

- Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene, Luke 3:1

- But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar. John 19:15

- And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. John 19:19

21. They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.

- So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Gen. 1:27

- Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. Dan. 3:16

- Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. Rom. 13:7

22. When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.

- And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way. Mark 12:12

- And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake. Acts 6:10

- Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. Col. 4:6

23. The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,

- But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Matt. 3:7

- Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation, Acts 5:17

- For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both. Acts 23:8

24. Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

- And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother. Gen. 38:8

- If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry without unto a stranger: her husband's brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of an husband's brother unto her. Deut. 25:5

- And Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will ye go with me? are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands? Ruth 1:11

25. Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:

- And Abram said, LORD God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? Gen. 15:2

- And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him. Ruth 4:15

- And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. Acts 19:14

26. Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.

- And if a man shall take his brother's wife, it is an unclean thing: he hath uncovered his brother's nakedness; they shall be childless. Lev. 20:21

- So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son. Ruth 4:13

- I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. 1 Tim. 5:14

27. And last of all the woman died also.

- And in process of time the daughter of Shuah Judah's wife died; and Judah was comforted, and went up unto his sheepshearers to Timnath, he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite. Gen. 38:12

- One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever. Eccles. 1:4

- And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Heb. 9:27

28. Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.

- Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. John 11:24

- For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both. Acts 23:8

- And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust. Acts 24:15

29. Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

- Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. Gen. 18:14

- For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: Job 19:25

- They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet. John 7:52

30. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

- Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. Luke 20:36

- For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both. Acts 23:8

- Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 1 John 3:2

31. But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,

- But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him; Matt. 12:3

- And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise? Matt. 21:16

- Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? Matt. 21:42

32. I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

- Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God. Ex. 3:6

- And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations. Ex. 3:15

- Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold. Acts 7:32

33. And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.

- And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: Matt. 7:28

- And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Mark 6:2

- The officers answered, Never man spake like this man. John 7:46

34. But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.

- Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him. Matt. 12:14

- The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him? Matt. 21:25

- Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow. Acts 5:24

35. Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,

- But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? Matt. 22:18

- And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? Mark 12:28

- Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered. Luke 11:52

36. Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

- I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing. Hos. 8:12

- Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Matt. 5:19

- But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Luke 11:42

37. Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

- And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. Deut. 6:5

- And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live. Deut. 30:6

- For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. 1 John 5:3

38. This is the first and great commandment.

- Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Matt. 5:19

- And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: Mark 12:29

- Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; Eph. 6:2

39. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

- Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the LORD. Lev. 19:18

- Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. Rom. 15:2

- If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: James 2:8

40. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

- Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Matt. 7:12

- For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Rom. 13:9

- For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Gal. 5:14

41. While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

- But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together. Matt. 22:34

- Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate, Matt. 27:62

- And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David? Mark 12:35

42. Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David.

- Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. Jer. 23:5

- The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Matt. 1:1

- Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was? John 7:42

43. He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

- The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue. 2 Sam. 23:2

- Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; Acts 2:30

- I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Rev. 1:10

44. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?

- The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. Ps. 110:1

- Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Matt. 26:64

- But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; Heb. 10:12

45. If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

- Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; Rom. 1:3

- Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. Rom. 9:5

- Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: Phil. 2:6

46. And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

- And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question. Mark 12:34

- And they could not answer him again to these things. Luke 14:6

- For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. Luke 21:15
