1. And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,

- And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. Zech. 14:4

- And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives. Luke 21:37

- And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat. Luke 22:8

2. Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.

- And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples. Matt. 26:18

- And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him. Mark 11:2

- And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him. Mark 14:13

3. And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.

- And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched. 1 Sam. 10:26

- Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. 1 Kings 17:9

- But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee. 1 Chron. 29:14

4. All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,

- Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Matt. 1:22

- But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled. Matt. 26:56

- For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. John 19:36

5. Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.

- Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. Isa. 62:11

- Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. Zech. 9:9

- Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Matt. 11:29

6. And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,

- Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he. Gen. 6:22

- And Moses did look upon all the work, and, behold, they had done it as the LORD had commanded, even so had they done it: and Moses blessed them. Ex. 39:43

- It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night. 1 Sam. 15:11

7. And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.

- The king also said unto them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon: 1 Kings 1:33

- Then they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew with trumpets, saying, Jehu is king. 2 Kings 9:13

- And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him. Mark 11:4

8. And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.

- And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days. Lev. 23:40

- Then they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew with trumpets, saying, Jehu is king. 2 Kings 9:13

- And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment. Zech. 3:4

9. And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

- Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD. Ps. 118:26

- For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. Matt. 23:39

- Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. Luke 2:14

10. And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?

- So they two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi? Ruth 1:19

- And Samuel did that which the LORD spake, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably? 1 Sam. 16:4

- And spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority? Luke 20:2

11. And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.

- And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people. Luke 7:16

- Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. John 1:45

- Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world. John 6:14

12. And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,

- And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean. Lev. 12:8

- And it grieved me sore: therefore I cast forth all the household stuff to Tobiah out of the chamber. Neh. 13:8

- And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; John 2:15

13. And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

- Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever. Ps. 93:5

- Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. Isa. 56:7

- Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD. Jer. 7:11

14. And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.

- Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Isa. 35:5

- And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. Matt. 4:23

- And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. Acts 3:8

15. And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were sore displeased,

- LORD, when thy hand is lifted up, they will not see: but they shall see, and be ashamed for their envy at the people; yea, the fire of thine enemies shall devour them. Isa. 26:11

- And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. Matt. 21:9

- And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. Luke 19:39

16. And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

- Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. Ps. 8:2

- At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. Matt. 11:25

- And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out. Luke 19:40

17. And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there.

- And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. Luke 24:50

- Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. John 11:1

- Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off: John 11:18

18. Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.

- And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. Matt. 4:2

- At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat. Matt. 12:1

- For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Matt. 25:35

19. And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.

- And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. Gen. 3:7

- Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit. Mic. 7:1

- He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. Luke 13:6

20. And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!

- The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: Isa. 40:6

- And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. Mark 11:20

- But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. James 1:10

21. Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

- And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Matt. 17:20

- And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 1 Cor. 13:2

- But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. James 1:6

22. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

- If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Matt. 7:11

- Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:24

- If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:7

23. And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?

- And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known. Ex. 2:14

- And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this? Acts 4:7

- But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us? Acts 7:27

24. And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.

- Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. Matt. 10:16

- Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it? Luke 6:9

- Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. Col. 4:6

25. The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?

- But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. Matt. 17:12

- And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet? John 1:25

- Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth. John 5:33

26. But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.

- And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet. Matt. 14:5

- But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet. Matt. 21:46

- How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only? John 5:44

27. And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

- Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. Isa. 6:10

- For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered. Isa. 29:10

- Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. Matt. 15:14

28. But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.

- He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? Matt. 17:25

- For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. Matt. 20:1

- And he said, A certain man had two sons: Luke 15:11

29. He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.

- And the LORD spake to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not hearken. 2 Chron. 33:10

- At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me. Dan. 4:36

- And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! Luke 15:17

30. And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.

- And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness. Ezek. 33:31

- All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. Matt. 23:3

- They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. Titus 1:16

31. Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

- Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Matt. 7:21

- And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. Luke 7:29

- I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Luke 18:14

32. For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.

- In the way of righteousness is life: and in the pathway thereof there is no death. Prov. 12:28

- But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him. Luke 7:30

- For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 2 Pet. 2:21

33. Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:

- Thou preparedst room before it, and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land. Ps. 80:9

- Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill: Isa. 5:1

- For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. Matt. 25:14

34. And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.

- Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets. 2 Kings 17:13

- And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: 2 Chron. 36:15

- And testifiedst against them, that thou mightest bring them again unto thy law: yet they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto thy commandments, but sinned against thy judgments, (which if a man do, he shall live in them;) and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear. Neh. 9:29

35. And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.

- Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against thee, and cast thy law behind their backs, and slew thy prophets which testified against them to turn them to thee, and they wrought great provocations. Neh. 9:26

- Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Matt. 5:12

- And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: Heb. 11:36

36. Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.

- Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. Matt. 22:4

- Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: Matt. 23:34

- And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty. Luke 20:11

37. But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.

- And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. Luke 9:35

- But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, Gal. 4:4

- Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Heb. 1:2

38. But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.

- And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him. Gen. 37:18

- And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. Matt. 2:13

- Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death. John 11:53

39. And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.

- And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus and took him. Matt. 26:50

- Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Acts 2:23

- Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. Heb. 13:12

40. When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?

- I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. Lev. 26:16

- Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. Matt. 21:43

- But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me. Luke 19:27

41. They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

- But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Matt. 22:7

- And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean; from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles. Acts 18:6

- Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it. Acts 28:28

42. Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

- The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. Ps. 118:22

- Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. Isa. 28:16

- To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, 1 Pet. 2:4

43. Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

- And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel. Ex. 19:6

- But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matt. 8:12

- Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. Acts 13:46

44. And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

- And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. Isa. 8:14

- And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken. Isa. 8:15

- Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. Dan. 2:34

45. And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.

- Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? Matt. 15:12

- Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also. Luke 11:45

- And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them. Luke 20:19

46. But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.

- And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet. Matt. 14:5

- And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee. Matt. 21:11

- But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet. Matt. 21:26
